Expatriates to face tighter driving licence, inspection regulations in Kuwait
Kuwait's traffic department at the Interior Ministry is setting up new regulations for expatriates looking to get their driving licences.
The move aims at reducing traffic congestion, which studies claim is mainly due to a large number of expatriate motorists in the country.
After the formation of the new government, the regulations will be sent for approval to the Interior Ministry.
“The new conditions include increasing the minimum salary requirement for expatriates applying for a driving licence. Moreover, only certain professions will be allowed to obtain a driving licence,” sources told Kuwait Times newspaper.
New rules regarding technical inspection may prevent the registration of more than 20,000 vehicles over 15 years old.
