A Bahrain-born PhD researcher – inspired by a personal tragic loss of a family member – has received an award for being one of the best speakers at a major medical conference for young scientists in Italy.
Frederic Buemi, a Swiss-Bahraini student at Imperial College London, received the accolade for Best Speaker at the 40th Winter School on Proteinases and Inhibitors, held in Tiers am Rosengarten in the Dolomite Mountains, for his research on hydrolytic enzymes driving cancer development .
