BEACH VOLLEYBALL – BAHRAIN’S beach volleyball teams bowed out of title contention yesterday in the second West Asia Beach Volleyball Championship for Men and Women, currently being played in Amman, Jordan.
The kingdom’s squads in both the men’s and women’s categories were eliminated at the quarter-final stage.
Amongst the men, the Bahrain One duo of Ali Abdulwahed and Mujtaba Al Shakhouri succumbed to Oman One 0-2 in their contest, while the Bahrain Two pairing of Ali Marhoon and Hassan Nasser went down fighting 0-2 against Oman Two.
On the distaff, the Bahrain One women’s pairing of Munira Abdulla and Hawraa Hameed Majeed lost to Jordan Two 0-2 in their quarter-final match, while the Bahrain Two partnership of Sajida Hussain Abbas and Fatima Abdulwahed went down 0-2 to Lebanon One.
Bahrain’s four squads were amongst a field of 23 men’s and women’s teams representing seven nations from across the region that took part in this regional event. Action continues until Friday.
