The world's fattest cat died just weeks after being put into a feline fat camp, it was reported.
Kroshik(Russian for "Crumbs") went viral after after being rescued from the basement of a Russian hospital, where he was fed scraps, biscuits and soups which caused him to weigh an astonishing 17kg.
Concerned about his health, Crumbs was put into a special veterinary weight loss centre in Russia and had even managed to shed three kgs. But Crumbs then suddenly developed breathing issues and passed away on Saturday.
Vets at the diet centre believed that Crumbs' layers of fat were so deep that it obscured scans from showing that he had developed cancerous tumours on his spleen and other internal organs.
The owner of the cat shelter that treated Crumbs believes that the tumours triggered multiple organs to collapse.
An official cause of death will only be released after a post-mortem exam is conducted.
