Egyptian footballer Mohamed Salah made an appearance at the Sharjah International Book Fair, where he spoke with the audience about his life, and how reading has shaped his perspectives on life and success.
Thousands came out to see him speak at the 43rd edition of the SIBF on Sunday.
“Not just one book, but many have influenced me,” he said.
"My favourites are novels because life is seen from another perspective through novels,” he explained, adding: “They educate you and help you interact with different societies.”
The Liverpool star said his love for reading started early in his career, when he was still at Chelsea in 2014.
“I wasn’t doing very well at first. Instead of blaming circumstances, I started to seek knowledge and understand what successful people did,” he said.
