An Indian woman sentenced to death in the UAE for murdering a four-month-old baby was executed last month, an Indian High Court heard today.
The Indian Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) reported to the Delhi High Court that 33-year-old Shahzadi Khan was executed on February 15. The court was hearing a plea by Khan's father regarding her well being.
According to records, Shahzadi was accused of murder in February 2023, and convicted of the crime in July 2023. She had been at the Al Wathba jail on death row since then.
The MEA said UAE authorities had officially informed the Indian Embassy on February 28, 2025, that Shahzadi’s sentence had been carried out in accordance with local laws. Shortly after, officials also informed Khan's family about her execution.
According to her family, Shahzadi had called them from the prison on February 14 saying that she would be hanged in a day or two. However, there was no communication from her since then, which prompted the family to file a plea with the Delhi High Court.
