The new ‘Citizen Account Programme’, a major government initiative to streamline and consolidate subsidies, will not result in cuts or reduced support, Parliament’s financial and economic affairs committee chairman MP Ahmed Al Salloom outlined during a Press conference at the National Assembly Complex in Gudaibiya yesterday. The initiative, which appears in the national state budget for 2025-2026, is designed to ensure that government financial assistance reaches those who need it most, through a tiered subsidy system based on household income .
