A visitor to the Palazzo Maffei art museum in Verona, Italy learned a hard lesson about “look, don’t touch” when a “Van Gogh” chair, covered in Swarovski crystals by artist Nicola Bolla, collapsed beneath him.
CCTV footage captured a man and a woman posing for photos with the delicate artwork. After the woman feigned sitting, the man fully sat on the chair, causing it to break. The pair promptly left the room.
The museum swiftly condemned the “irresponsible gesture” that caused “serious damage,” though they later confirmed the unique piece was repairable.
