A Jordanian groom called off his engagement after his father-in-law asked him for a six-month salary statement and a police clearance certificate.
“Am I applying for a loan?” the man reportedly asked as a verbal altercation ensued, which led him to withdraw his marriage proposal and walk away.
He described his father-in-law’s demands as ‘unusual and excessive’.
