The Saudi artificial intelligence team achieved a remarkable accomplishment by winning four international medals in its first participation in the International Olympiad in Artificial Intelligence (IOAI) 2025, held in Beijing from August 2 to 9, with 284 students from 85 countries competing.
The Olympiad targets the world's elite artificial intelligence students, nominated through national competitions, who compete in a scientific environment that facilitates knowledge exchange and the building of international academic relationships, enhancing young people's ability to harness artificial intelligence technologies to serve humanity and promote sustainable development.
The Kingdom participated in the Olympiad through the King Abdulaziz and His Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity (Mawhiba), in strategic partnership with the Ministry of Education and KAUST Academy, as part of an integrated national program to nurture talent and innovation and achieve the goals of Saudi Vision 2030 in building a knowledge-based economy.
IOAI is a global scientific platform for high school students, aimed at developing computational and algorithmic thinking skills and enhancing their capabilities in programming and artificial intelligence applications, with a focus on innovation and ethical responsibility.
