ENDURANCE – His Majesty King Hamad’s representative for humanitarian work and youth affairs, Supreme Council for Youth and Sport (SCYS) chairman, and Bahrain Royal Endurance Team captain Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa was crowned champion yesterday of the CEI2* 120-kilometre ride at Rushford Estate in Thetford, the UK.
Shaikh Nasser took first place after successfully completing the four stages of the race on his horse Schelmigra Truckstarr.
Present at the event were SCYS first deputy chairman, General Sports Authority chairman, and Bahrain Olympic Committee president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, and Supreme Council for the Environment deputy chairman, Rashid Equestrian and Horseracing Club High Committee vice-chairman, and SCYS member Shaikh Faisal bin Rashid Al Khalifa.
Shaikh Nasser finished ahead of runner-up Abdullah Al Bastaki from the UAE riding Picadilly Gold, while Narendra Singh from India on Aloha Jubilant came third overall.
Following his victory, Shaikh Nasser affirmed that winning in Rushford gives the Royal Endurance Team great motivation ahead of their upcoming events. Shaikh Nasser noted that they have many important races ahead, and that their riders will strive to claim top positions in each.
Shaikh Nasser added that the Royal Endurance Team gained great experience in yesterday’s ride, which will contribute to enhancing their technical abilities in future participations.
Shaikh Nasser spearheaded a sensational showing amongst the Royal Endurance Team at Rushford, as three other riders flew the kingdom’s flag high and climbed onto the podium in their respective races.
Competing in the CEI1* 100km event, Bahrain’s Zuhair Mohammed Abdulrahman took second place on Izengar de Pevele and teammate Asem Abdulwahed Janahi came third riding Makeda Al Mels. Manohar Singh from India was the winner, riding Bullio Ahnu.
Also yesterday, Royal Endurance Team rider Mohamed Abdulsamad Al Bastaki clinched third place in the CEI3* 160km ride, competing on Henham Silver Dixie. In first and second were Emirati riders Hamad Obaid Al Kaabi and Saif Ahmed Almazrouei, riding Bullio Ozzie Jo and Bullio Quadrillion, respectively.
