The Traditional Omani Games Season kicked off today at Al Daharis Beach in Salalah.
Organised by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, the event aims to introduce visitors to the cultural, sporting and cultural heritage associated with folk games and sports.
The three-day event also enhances the governorate's tourism appeal during the Khareef (monsoon) season.
The event includes Dhofar Governorate Clubs Championship for Traditional Omani Games in which the clubs are divided into two groups competing to win prizes in three traditional games known as Al Sayyad, Al Lakad and Al Yoos.
The event also features other activities, including an exhibition of traditional Omani games, a virtual reality (VR) experience zone performance and an interactive space for children to experience traditional games.
