Maltese chocolatier Andrew Farrugia has set a new Guinness World Record for the longest chocolate sculpture after he and his team created a 55.27-metre-long train made entirely of Belgian chocolate.
Farrugia, who has previously broken two other world records, constructed the train with one locomotive and 22 carriages, each weighing up to 160kg. The world record holder is also a senior lecturer in culinary arts and chocolate-making at the Institute of Tourism Studies (ITS) in Malta.
“With this record, I wanted to leave a legacy to my institute, my country, and my family,” Farrugia said.
In 2012, Farrugia created a 34.05-metre model train built out of chocolate, which was recognised as the longest chocolate structure at the time. He followed this in 2014 by creating a Burj Khalifa chocolate display, setting a new record for the tallest chocolate sculpture in the world at 13.52 metres.
