Police in the United States have arrested a man who fled from a traffic stop in Huber Heights, Ohio, after he attempted to hide inside a garbage bin.
During a traffic stop initiated by Huber Heights officer on Monday, the driver, Jonathan McMillan, exited the vehicle and fled on foot. This prompted a police pursuit. The officer briefly lost sight of the 27-year-old and established a perimeter to prevent his escape.
Dashcam footage of the incident shows a sanitation worker opening the lid of a wheelie bin, before quickly stepping back and pointing towards it. As the officer’s vehicle approached, McMillan emerged from the bin and ran.
“As luck would have it, ‘Oscar the Grouch’, as we’ve nicknamed our suspect, appeared at just the right place and the right time,” Huber Heights Police said in a post on social media.
Authorities stated that McMillan ran several blocks past nearby apartments before being apprehended.
