HORSERACING – THE Bahrain Jockey Foundation (BJF) honoured its third group of trainee jockeys for the 2025-26 season in a ceremony held at the Bahrain Jockey Academy (BJA) premises at Rashid Equestrian and Horseracing Club (REHC) in Sakhir.
Thirty-eight young Bahraini men and women were part of the training programme, which ran for five months and featured intensive theoretical and practical courses, covering the fundamentals and skills of horseracing.
The programme was held under the supervision of a number of specialised lecturers and trainers.
The participants delivered strong results. They were divided into four groups. Group A had Sayed Hussain Mohammed as its top trainee, Group B was led by trainee Loay Mohammed, Group C-1 was led by trainee Abbas Rajab, and Group C-2 featured Asma Mushrif as its top trainee jockey.
The training programme was organised by the BJA and it continued to achieve significant success, reflected in the growing participation of aspiring Bahraini jockeys and their outstanding results, alongside an increasing rate of first-place finishes in races throughout the season.
These programmes form part of the BJF’s ongoing efforts to develop national talent in equestrianism and horseracing, making the sport more appealing to young Bahrainis. This is achieved by providing an ideal environment and comprehensive support to enhance their skills, thereby laying a solid foundation for a new generation of jockeys and preparing them to compete at international and regional levels.
