Hubert Ruissen, Chief of Staff to Belgian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, yesterday received in Brussels Bahrain’s Ambassador and Belgium and head of its mission to the European Union and Nato Dr Mohammed Ali Behzad.
The meeting addressed the current regional developments resulting from the Iranian aggression against Bahrain and the GCC countries. The ambassador stressed that the GCC countries are not a party to the conflict, calling for the refutation of misleading narratives in this regard, and emphasising that Iran’s closure of the Strait of Hormuz represents a threat to the global economy.
Mr Ruissen expressed Belgium’s solidarity with Bahrain and the GCC countries, conveying the repeated condemnations of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Iranian attacks on civilian infrastructure and violations of the sovereignty of the GCC countries.
