Kuwait City: The Kuwaiti authorities have stepped up security at the General Directorate for Criminal Investigation.
The police patrols were deployed in force around the main headquarters and branches as the alert was elevated to level 1, based on intelligence information about potential terror-related threats.
Security sources from the Ministry told Arabic newspaper Alrai that the measure was only preventive and aims at pre-empting any terrorist threats.
The same sources said that security has been stepped up around police stations.
