FOOTBALL – BAHRAIN’S under-17 football national team lost to their counterparts from Kyrgyzstan last night in a friendly match played as part of their ongoing overseas training camp in Bishkek.
Goals from Aleksandr Berezyuk and Ulukbek Ishenbaev only four minutes apart in the first half were enough to settle the contest.
Berezyuk opened the hosts’ account in the 32nd minute with an effort from the right of the box following an assist delivered by teammate Ariet Abilov.
The game was the second of two tune-ups between the two sides during Bahrain’s camp. The other was a narrow 3-4 defeat. Ishenbaev was then on target in the 36th minute, scoring with a left-footed effort from close range.
The Bahrainis’ training period in Kyrgyzstan is set to conclude today, when they are scheduled to fly back to the kingdom.
The nationals, coached by Croatian tactician Ugo Klingor, are in their camp with 22 players. The roster includes Hussain Zahir, Ahmed Hani, Jaafar Sadiq, Talal Mahmoud, Mohammed Al Mulhim, Omar Al Balushi, Abdulla Khalil, Ali Al Oraibi, Mohammed Al Jazzaf, Mohammed Salah, Hussain Amir, Mohammed Al Hasooni, Kamil Al Satrawi, Karar Huwaida, Jassim bin Jamea, Eyad Mustafa, Khaled Al Khaja, Ahmed Mahdi, Hussain Zainuddin, Haitham Shafi, Hussain Shehab, and Anas Mohammed.
