An Emirati toddler aged 18 months was killed after he was run over by a school bus in Al Dhaid, according to Al Bayan.
The boy, identified as Saeed, died on the spot due to the critical injuries he sustained in the accident which happened near his family’s house in Al Tunaij village.
The boy, who was enrolled at Al Bustan nursery nearby, was already dead when an ambulance team with patrols and traffic police arrived. His mother, an Arabic teacher, also works at the same nursery school.
His body was taken to the Al Dhaid Hospital morgue as police launched an investigation into the incident. The child was buried after funeral prayers yesterday evening.
The police appealed to parents and motorists to be vigilant and watch out for children in residential areas to avert tragic incidents.
