Dubai – UAE nationals living in the United Kingdom have been banned from driving cars bearing Emirati number plates.
UAE Ambassador to London Suleiman Al-Mazroui announced the measure to ensure Emirati citizens’ safety in these current conditions.
The Emirati students enrolled at British universities have also been ordered to return their cars to the UAE with immediate effect.
The preventive measures came a few days after a number of Gulf-owned luxury cars were targeted and sprayed in London.
UAE national Abdullah Al Hosani was attacked five days ago by Iraqi Adnan Musa Basim, who sprayed his Mercedes G-class SUV near Times Square, Whitechapel.
The 24-year masked aggressor threatened Al-Hosani to death in Arabic, telling him “I will kill you”, before spraying the word “War” on his car.
The London police has since taken required legal measures against him and referred to the Public Prosecution.
The defendants appeared before Westminster Court, facing three counts of charges which involve physical assault, racist-motivated aggression and possession of drugs, according to Emarat Alyoum.
