SPECIAL OLYMPICS – THE Special Olympics Bahrain equestrian team have arrived in Al Ain in the UAE to participate in the Special Olympics Mena Regional Equestrian Competition.
The event has been organised by Special Olympics International-Middle East and North Africa (Mena) in collaboration with Special Olympics UAE, and it continues until Thursday.
Special Olympics Bahrain are one of 11 delegations taking part, with the others coming from Saudi Arabia, Oman, Kuwait, Jordan, Egypt, Morocco, Iraq, Tunisia, Iran, and hosts UAE.
The event will feature competition in A, B, and C categories in dressage, English riding, showjumping, track, and reining.
The competition marks a qualitative step forward, given the significance of equestrian sports as one of the most prominent models of inclusive sports for elite Special Olympics athletes with intellectual disabilities.
Special Olympics Bahrain’s participation comes as part of its commitment to empowering its athletes and coaches, developing their skills, and offering them valuable experience in regional and international events.
