The death toll resulting from a horrific head-on collision between two buses in Kuwait rose to 18 victims.
The accident, which happened on Al Artal road close to the ring road near the Burgan oilfield, claimed the lives of 9 Indians, 5 Egyptians, 3 Pakistanis and 1 Kuwaiti national.
The injured passengers were transferred at Al Eddan and Al Sabah Hospitals and the Kuwait Oil Company at Al Ahmadi for treatment.
The two buses were transporting dozens of employees of contracting firms that work for Burgan drilling company and Heavy Engineering Industries and Shipbuilding firm when the accident occurred near the oil field.
Civil defence pulled out the bodies of the victims and rescued the injured who were trapped inside the buses due to the impact of the head-on collision.
An inquiry was launched into the causes of the accident and to take required legal measures.
