Jeddah – Snow blanketed large parts of the governorate of Al-Taif in the province of Jeddah.
Social media users posted pictures and video recordings showing snow-capped mountains and vast snow-covered landscapes in Meesan, in southern Al-Taif.
The torrential rain which lashed the province of Mecca and other parts of Saudi pushed the authorities to close schools in Jeddah, the Northern borders, Al-Laith and other areas as a preventive measure.
The General Authority for Meteorology and Environmental Protection (GAMEP) forecast moderate to heavy thundershowers accompanied by hailstorms and active winds kicking dust and causing low visibility on Sunday in Jazan, Asir, Al-Baha, Mecca, Madinah and Tabuk.
