Muscat: Remittances sent home by expatriates living in Oman reached around $10 billion in 2018, although the number of foreign workers dropped over the past year due to the policy of Omanisation.
According to data from the World Bank, remittances sent out of Oman reached $9.958 billion in 2018, up from the $9.815 billion figure posted in 2017, reported Times of Oman.
In December 2018, Oman’s expat population stood at 2,030,194 having decreased from 2,100,975 in January 2018, which meant 70,781 foreign nationals left Oman last year, according to data from the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).
