Thankfully headaches can usually be treated with an over-the-counter painkiller. But that doesn’t mean you should always chalk up a persistent headache to everyday stress, a headache could be your body’s way of alerting you to something far more serious.
Most of the time, you’re going to get a tension headache, a sinus headache or a migraine. These usually come with a dull pain and build slowly. Sometimes a headache can last for over 24 hours, but if you find it getting worse after that long, it’s time to call the doctor.

“Thunderclap” Headache: These frequent headaches are quick and severe and usually at their worst after 60 seconds. It’s extremely important not to ignore the warning signs, as they may be a sign of bleeding around the brain.
