KHK Sports yesterday took another monumental step towards developing mixed martial arts (MMA) in the Gulf region.
The organisation, founded by Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, has signed a partnership deal with premier boxing organisation WBC (World Boxing Council).
The partnership between the two industry titans will create the first-ever world Arab championship belt in the history of the organisation which promises to open the door for a new age in Middle East Boxing.
“The vision of Shaikh Khalid for KHK Sports was to develop the sport from every perspective. From grassroots to professional level. What makes this special is the focus on the development of grassroots to bringing a new system into the sport of boxing,” said CEO of KHK Sports Mohammed Shahid.
“WBC is one of the largest and most reputed boxing bodies and the World Arab Championship belt will add a big opportunity for the future of boxing in the region.”

The World Boxing Council is one of the premier boxing organisations worldwide and has worked with legendary figures like the late Muhammad Ali, Joe Frazier, Sugar Ray Leonard, Floyd Mayweather Jr, Roy Jones Jr, Julio Cezar Chavez as well as presents stars like Canelo Alvárez, Manny Pacquiao, Tyson Fury and Vasyl Lomachenko.
