Tehran: Iran's Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) reported a major fire in the country's southern region on Sunday, killing one person.
The fire broke out at a market on Iran’s Kish Island in the Arabian Gulf.
The incident took place at around 8 am local time and was put out by firefighters two and a half hours later, IRNA said.
While the full extent of the damage was not yet known, at least ten booths were “completely destroyed” in the fire, IRNA reported.
The cause of the fire remains unclear and the death reported was a merchant of the market.
An earthquake of magnitude 5.1 was also reported by Iranian state TV in the province of Kermanshah in western Iran on Sunday.
It gave no immediate information on possible casualties or damage from the quake, which it said jolted the Gilan-e Gharb county in the province.
