An Iranian couple managed to reach Dubai in the middle of Iran’s crackdown on Instagram models.
Elnaz Golrokh and her husband Hamid Fadaei were being monitored by Iran's 'morality police' as part of an operation to stop 'Western-style' modelling pictures being posted on social media sites.
They are believed to have fled the Islamic Republic in January when they were out on bail.
Elnaz Golrokh posted a new photo on her Instagram account where she wore a dazzling short white dress.
As many as 170 people were being targeted as part of 'Spider II' operations in Iran.
Ms Golrokh has 644,000 followers on her model instagram page.
On another page where she promotes her beauty salon in Iran, she has 210,000 followers.
Her husband is one of Iran's most famous models, and has been the face of Paris fragrance Robert Vizzari, haute couture Iranian design company Cameron Zigal as well as for Iranian sports label Fidal.
But the couple was being targeted by Iran’s attempt to enforce 'Islamic values' by targeting the fashion industry, which has boomed in recent years.
The Iranian husband and wife now both live in Dubai.
In the meanwhile, another Iranian model Elham Arab made a 'voluntary confession' in court and admitted that she had made a 'mistake' by entering the fashion industry.
Elham was charged with 'promoting western promiscuity' and forced to give public 'self-criticism.'
Recently, police arrested eight models in a new crackdown targeting 'un-Islamic acts' such as women exposing their hair online.
The arrests were made under a two-year-old sting operation named "Spider II", targeting among others models who post photos online without the hijab covering the hair that is compulsory for women in public in Iran since its 1979 Islamic revolution.
In addition to the eight arrests, criminal cases have been opened against 21 other people.
The sting operation has homed in on a database of over 300 popular Iranian Instagram accounts and connected accounts.
His comments followed a live ‘educational court session’ on Sunday at which a former model said she had been earning money through the popular photosharing mobile application Instagram.
Instagram is extremely popular in Iran. Unlike Facebook, Twitter and YouTube which remain blocked, Instagram is accessible to Iranians.
