BAHRAIN duo Keith Watson and Yeon Gul, representing Motorcity Volvo, became the only GCC contestants to qualify for the prestigious Volvo World Golf Challenge 2016, beating almost 50,000 competitors for the opportunity.
Watson and Gul participated in the 36-hole, two-day World Final at Fancourt, South Africa, and finished in the top 20 out of 70 contestants.
The Volvo World Golf Challenge saw golfers from almost 40 countries participating in qualification events organised by their local clubs. This growing, year-round activity, hosted by Volvo dealers from all around the world and now in its 18th year, gives golfers the chance to participate in competitive, but friendly and professionally run events.
National winners qualify for the world final where they practice and compete at the beautiful and highly rated Fancourt golf course in South Africa.
“This was truly the golfing experience of a lifetime, and I cannot thank Motorcity enough for this opportunity. The organisation by Volvo was also simply outstanding,” said Watson.
“The golf course in South Africa was stunning, and it was a real pleasure to play there. We were treated like VIPs for qualifying from the GCC, and we really enjoyed the celebrity treatment,” said Gul.
