STABILITY is the cornerstone of progress and development in the Middle East, His Majesty King Hamad has said.
Security of this highly-important region continues to be threatened amid mounting challenges, he said.
His Majesty was receiving senior participants in the 17th Manama Dialogue at Sakhir Palace yesterday.
He highlighted the need to ensure regional maritime security to protect the freedom of navigation and commercial sea routes that serve the global economy.
The King pointed out that the outbreak of the worst pandemic in modern history has challenged all countries, regardless of their size, wealth or resources.
He expressed pride in Bahrain’s success in overcoming Covid-19 during its worst surges, praising the National Taskforce for Combating Covid-19, led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister. He highlighted the international acclaim of Bahrain’s efforts which made the kingdom share its approach with other countries.
He also reiterated Bahrain’s firm commitment to peace, dialogue and coexistence, as stipulated recently in the Abraham Accords.
The King hosted a dinner banquet in honour of the delegates attending the conference.
