Bahraini middle-distance specialist Nelly Korir has won Bahrain’s third gold medal of the day in the women’s 1,500 metres at the 20th Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan.
Korir triumphed in rain-hit conditions at Nagoya City Mizuho Park Athletic Stadium in a new Asiad record of four minutes 04.50 seconds.
Korir captured the first Asian Games title of her career and boosted the medal haul for the kingdom’s delegation to an impressive 11, headlined by seven gold and including two silver and two bronze medals.
