Bahrain have wrapped up their golden day at the 20th Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan with the coveted title – and a new Asiad record – in the mixed 4x400 metres relay at Nagoya City Mizuho Park Athletic Stadium.
The quartet of Musa Isah, Aisha Abdullah, Alaa Sami, and former world champion Salwa Eid Naser powered to victory in the event’s final with a time of three minutes 12.87 seconds.
They successfully defended the crown they claimed in the same race at the Asian Games' previous edition in Hangzhou, China in 2022.
India bagged silver 1.59 seconds behind while Vietnam took bronze 1.67s back.
Bahrain's mixed 4x400m relay gold was their third for today, adding to Winfred Yavi’s triumph in the women’s 10,000 metres and Mikhail Arkhangelskiy’s historic swimming title in the men's 50m butterfly.
The kingdom's delegation have now won five medals so far in this year’s Asian Games, including today’s three gold plus two silver medals in mixed martial arts.
