BAHRAIN is celebrating the golden jubilee of its independence.
As a long-time resident of this tiny but beautiful country I feel that both citizens and expatriates are celebrating the National Day this year with more fervour, gaiety and a renewed hope for the future.
It is heart-warming to see people flocking to see the lights along the highways and at prominent places and witness the fireworks.
The whole country is glittering in the multi-coloured LED lights and illuminations. You can see a light of joy in the eyes of the people which was missing during the past two years.
People are relieved that Bahrain has almost won the battle with the pandemic and life is returning to normal. Citizens and expats are all praise for His Majesty King Hamad and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, for their impeccable handling of the crises risen out of the pandemic. They are the real heroes in Bahrain now, as they have kept both citizens and expats close to their heart alike during the pandemic. That’s why people from all walks of life are flocking to the streets to demonstrate their gratitude to the leadership and the government.
Indians have always enjoyed a special place in the hearts of the Royal Family and the people of Bahrain as the relations between India and Bahrain have been long-standing and deep-rooted. The large-scale migration of Indians, especially from Kerala to Bahrain, following the discovery of oil has impacted the economy and well-being of both the countries.
Indians have played a key role in transforming Bahrain into a model modern welfare state. In return, the money we earned from Bahrain has been instrumental in developing the state of Kerala.
The people of Bahrain are very friendly, peace-loving, educated, tolerant and cultured. The rulers of Bahrain are far-sighted, concerned about the well-being of its citizens and expats alike. Indians have always enjoyed extra care and support from the Royal Family for which we remain thankful and committed to this country.
Hearty greetings to His Majesty, HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister and the people of Bahrain!
