PEOPLE forging Covid-19 vaccination certificates could face up to 10 years in jail, it has emerged.
The tough new measures to crack down on violators comes as the country has been witnessing a surge in infections over the last few days.
Members of the public have been warned against duping officials by forging the ‘green shield’ on their BeAware app, to gain access to malls or facilities in violation of current pandemic protocols.
“Violators could be jailed for up to 10 years,” said Interior Ministry’s senior officer at the Legal Affairs Directorate Major Dr Abdullah Albuflasa.
The punishment also applies to those tampering with, or forging, PCR test reports, which constitutes digital fraud.
Accomplices found aiding or abetting the crime will also face the same penalty, the official said, in a report published on Arabic media.
