A historical neighbourhood in Dubai will be turned into a leading cultural destination.
The strategy, which will focus on transforming 19th century Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood, is one of two moves that will help preserve local heritage, Khaleej Times reported.
The 'Rehabilitation and Revitalisation of Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood Strategy' will highlight “our nation’s authentic architectural and urban heritage”, said Dubai Crown Prince and Executive Council Chairman Shaikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
The initiative will transform the neighbourhood into a platform for young people to showcase their creative talent and additionally host start-up companies in the cultural sector, it was revealed.
It will also improve the area's general appearance and infrastructure , while promoting the country's cultural identity, art, creativity, innovation and heritage.
