A 14-year-old Bahraini girl has been reported missing to the police after disappearing from outside her home on Friday morning.
Shahad Al Gallaf had been helping her mother place picnic items in the family car near Block 806, Cairo Road, Isa Town, when she suddenly disappeared at around 6am.
Her mother Manal, 40, walked inside the house to grab more supplies for the trip to a chalet in Zallaq and when she stepped back outside her only child was missing.
“We were preparing to go on a road trip together,” she said. “My daughter was happily singing and I went into our house for less than 10 minutes, to grab some more items.
“She stopped singing all of a sudden. I went outside and started yelling my daughter’s name but she was nowhere to be found,” she added.
“It was like she had disappeared into thin air.
“I then rushed to the nearest police station and told them what had happened. You cannot believe what a nightmare this is.”
The teenager left behind her mobile phone and the family says she never goes anywhere without it.
The Southern Governorate Police Directorate confirmed that it had launched an investigation and inquiries into her absence were continuing.
