Patients on a ward at Salmaniya Medical Complex (SMC) had to be evacuated today as firefighters tackled a small storeroom fire.
Emergency plans were activated at the hospital, said Government Hospitals’ chief executive Dr Ahmed Al Ansari, and no-one was injured.
“A number of patients were immediately transferred to another ward as a precautionary measure,” he added in an official statement.
“The Civil Defence was immediately contacted and they dealt with the accident quickly and efficiently. Matters returned to normal and the SMC is operating as usual.”
Dr Al Ansari added that a thorough investigation will be conducted into the causes of the ‘limited accident’ in collaboration with the Civil Defence.
