TWO men have been jailed for six months for stealing tyres from parked cars and selling them to a scrap shop.
The Bahrainis, aged 24 and 30, were found guilty of the charges by the High Criminal Court yesterday.
The younger defendant stole tyres from two ‘for sale’ vehicles parked on the roadside and sold them in November last year to a scrap shop in Manama where his accomplice was employed. The vehicles included a BMW and a Subaru.
The ruling was handed out despite defence lawyer Zaheda Al Sayed saying that her client, the 24-year-old defendant, was arrested without a Public Prosecution warrant.
A 35-year-old Bahraini detective told the court that confidential informants helped in the arrest of the defendants.
