His Majesty King Hamad, the Supreme Commander, has praised the efforts of BDF and its affiliates in protecting Bahrain.
He inaugurated a number of newly-commissioned aircraft when he visited the Royal Bahrain Air Force (RBAF), as part of BDF’s celebration of its 54th anniversary.
He then inspected the RBAF squadron.
The King was welcomed on arrival by BDF Commander-in-Chief Field Marshal Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa.
His Majesty was accompanied by his Personal Representative Shaikh Abdulla bin Hamad Al Khalifa, National Security Adviser and Royal Guard Commander Major General Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa and Royal Guard Special Force Commander Lieutenant Colonel Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
The King was also welcomed by Defence Minister Lieutenant General Abdulla Al Nuaimi, Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Dheyab bin Saqr Al Nuaimi, RBAF Commander Air Vice Marshal Shaikh Hamad bin Abdulla Al Khalifa and senior officers.
He commended contributions of the RBAF personnel in promoting security and peace in the region, under the umbrella of the UN and in collaboration with friendly countries.
The RBAF Commander thanked the King for the visit and his keenness to modernise the air force.
He pointed out the provision of the three cutting-edge systems that will start arriving in the kingdom successively: new helicopters (Shield of Bahrain Project), air defence system (Spears of Bahrain Project), and new fighter jets (Hamad Hawks Project).
The BDF Commander-in-Chief presented the King with a commemorative gift marking the occasion.
