WOMEN will be managing and operating LuLu’s latest store launched today in Hamad Town.
The LuLu Xpress Fresh Market boasts a team of 19 females, hailing from different nationalities and backgrounds, ensuring customers shop with ease and comfort.
Members of the media were invited on an exclusive pre-launch tour yesterday where LuLu’s head of digital marketing, Tanmayi Mohan, highlighted the reasons behind its location and new concept.
“The name LuLu Xpress Fresh Market expresses it all – ease of shopping and convenience,” said Ms Mohan. “Normally LuLu hypermarkets are huge so this is great for that quick trip to the shops.
“LuLu Xpress Fresh Market is a new concept we’re introducing under the LuLu Group banner. Inshallah, we hope there will be many more to come.
“As for this location, there are a lot of developments happening in and around Hamad Town and new communities looking for such a store. This will help out all the residents of the community, with the addition of a beautiful view and wonderful ambience to shop and relax.”
Customers will be able to enjoy the lake view, for example, from a coffee shop attached to the store.
“If customers are feeling tired after shopping and would like to relax afterwards, they can do so from the coffee shop which has a very nice view too,” said LuLu Xpress Fresh Market store manager Ria Tawat.
In terms of store design, every aisle is cared for and shelved by a different female staff member with quality products in abundance, including meat, vegetables, fruits and herbs, as well as leading brands of frozen and canned products, alongside home-wear and more.
Convenience remains the name of the retail game. “We also designed the check outs to make them easier for customers to use if they are in a hurry,” added Ms Tawat.
“They can pay quickly through the Self Check Out where they scan their own items and pay via card, or they can receive an eBill sent to their mobile by a cashier. A bill can be sent to a customer’s phone number after all items have been rung up by the cashier and the customer can then pay via BenefitPay. We also have a WhatsApp delivery service.”
As for why an all-female-powered team, according to LuLu Hypermarket head office senior marketing executive, Seema AlZedjali, ‘women can do anything men can’.
“We have opened this store after Mother’s Day as a tribute to women,” she said. “We have so many women that have been working with us for years in different departments that are managed by men. So why can’t the women be management?
“We have some Bahraini women who have worked with us for 15-plus years and have more than enough experience.”
