A GALA dance and musical festival, which kicked off on Tuesday, continues until May 14 and features performances by world-renowned artistes.
The 12-day Indo-Bahrain Dance and Musical Festival is being organised by the Bahrain Keraleeya Samajam (BKS) under the patronage of the Indian Embassy with the support of Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities.
All performances are being held at BKS premises in Segaiya.
Tonight, Stephen Devassy, Umayalpuram Sivaraman, Attukal Balsubrahmaniam and Amith Nadig will take to the stage at 8.15pm for a music magic orchestra.
Tomorrow, instrumental exponents violin duo Ganesh and Kumereh accompanied by Vidwan Patri Satishkumar are set to enthral the audience at 7.45pm.
Abhishek Raghuram, Vidwan H N Bhaskar, Vidwan Patri Satishkumar along with Sukanya Ramgopal will perform Carnatic vocal on Saturday at 8.15pm while the following day will feature another Carnatic music exponent with the voice of a nightingale, Nityasree Mahadevan, supported by Tanujashree and instrumental performers Raghavendra Rao on violin, Praveen Sparsh on mridangam and Sukanya Ramgopal on ghatam at the same time.
An exciting dance drama production from Bahrain ‘Buddha The Divine’ by Vidyasree and 60 versatile dancers will be staged on Monday at 8.15pm.
The music composition is by Palakad Sreeram and lyrics by L Sampathkumar.
One of South India’s most favourite singers and music directors M Jayachandran will take to the stage on Tuesday at 8.15pm, accompanied by schoolmates Sankaran Namboothiri, Sreevalsan Menon, Lalu Sukumar and their accompaniments.
Artists from Bahrain will perform on Wednesday. The famous Bahrain band, Majaz, will be playing and the Kathak Dance performance by Khalil Alasher will be another highlight at 8.15pm.
On May 12, a classical instrumental night will feature Mysore Nagaraj and Dr Maysore Manjunath on violin, accompanied by Thiruvaroor Bahakthavalsalam on mridangam and Alappuzha R Karunamoorthy on tavil and Giridhar Udupa on ghatam at 8.15pm.
Veena exponent Rajesh Vaidhya and his team – Bhuvanesh, Kumaran, Mohan and Sai Hari – will take to the stage on May 13 at 7.45pm.
The finale will be held on May 14 at 7.45pm with the highlight of the festival being a performance by world-renowned Sarod trio Ustad Amjad Ali Khan and his sons Aman Ali Bangash and Ayaan Ali Bangash.
The festival is curated by one of India’s foremost art directors Soorya Krishnamoorthy.
Soorya is one of the largest cultural bodies in the Southeast of Asia with chapters around the world.
Soorya has successfully staged several shows in Bahrain.
