BAHRAIN’S youth football team will play their first game of the Youth Gulf Cup against Oman at 6.40pm today at the Aspire Football Field, in Qatar.
The team had earlier trained on the match field to become more familiar with its dimensions.
The players showed high spirits and great enthusiasm during the training which included some warm-up and tactical exercises, while the goalkeepers trained with coach Jehad Al Asher.
The team will be hoping to put up a top performance against the Omanis despite the short preparation period they underwent which included a 10-day training camp in Oman.
The players coach Abdulsaheb Abdulnaby called up included Ali Hameed Abdullah, Ali Jassim Ali, Ahmed Abdallah Ghanem Ahmed Zein, Fadel Fadel Muslah, Hussein Abdullah Al-Amri, Salem Adel, Ibrahim Rashid Ahmed, Kameel Mohammad Jafar, Sadeq Jafar Al Asfoor, Sayed Jafar Sadiq Ibrahim.

During the pre-match press conference, Abdulnaby stressed the importance of this tournament to help develop the Gulf players and make them ready to battle in continental and international tournaments.
He pointed out that Bahrain’s participation with this team comes due to the fact that the under-19 will be in a training camp to prepare for their participation in the under-19 Asian Cup which will be hosted by Bahrain.
He also pointed out that the players taking part in the competition include some who have been called up to represent the country for the first time, adding that he is confident they will carry that responsibility wisely.
