Bahrain scored twice against Bangladesh in their opening Group E match of the AFC Asian Cup.
The qualifying tie ended 2-0 in the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil, Malaysia.
Ali Haram netted in the 34th minute before Komail Al Aswad added the second for Bahrain eight minutes later.
Bahrain will now face Malaysia on Saturday in the second round before meeting Turkmenistan next Tuesday in the third and last round of the qualifying contest.
The group winners automatically go through to the finals.
