A WOMAN has been arrested for allegedly posting a ‘vulgar’ video on social media, the Public Prosecution announced yesterday.
Identifying her only as Arab, a statement said she had shared a video clip containing a speech and gestures that violated public decency.
During the investigation, the woman confirmed that she was indeed the person featured in the video.
She also admitted that she had filmed and posted the video herself on her personal social media account.
She was charged with ‘spreading a publicly indecent speech’ and the ‘misuse of a wired or wireless telecommunication’ device.
The woman was also charged with violating immigration laws as her residence permit had expired, according to authorities.
The Arab woman received seven days of jail time after being referred to a criminal court.
Her trial begins today.
The Public Prosecution said that the woman was identified after it received a report from the cybercrime directorate at the Interior Ministry’s anti-corruption and economic and electronic security general directorate.
