A total of 100,000 robots are preparing to wish the Curiosity Mars rover a happy birthday on August 6.
The brainchild behind the marketing stunt is autonomous lawn mower-makers Husqvarna, who are releasing an odd software update for their lawn mowers especially for the occasion.
This means that some 100,000 lawn movers around the world will sing happy birthday to the Curiosity rover on the day.
The scientists and engineers who made and coded the Curiosity rover had also coded in that the rover would sing happy birthday to itself on it's first birthday.
"For us, this is a way to pay homage to the great engineering work of NASA, and that of our extensive team of robotic experts, by letting our robotic mowers celebrate a fellow robot … nobody should have to sing Happy Birthday to themselves, right?" asked Björn Mannefred, Robotics Software Manager at Husqvarna.
