Work on a new public garden has been given the go-ahead in Barbar in the Northern Governorate.
Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture Minister Wael Al Mubarak inspected the project which is located in bloc 526.
The garden will cover 8,486sqm, of which 2,285 have been allocated for afforestation to support efforts to expand the green spaces in Bahrain.
Green spaces will cover 1,439sqm as part of the section which was allocated for afforestation.
The project supports Bahrain goals to reach net zero neutrality by 2060, through quadrupling the number of mangrove trees by 2035.
The beachfront garden has been designed to include a 383m long walkway, children playing space covering 1,090sqm, a family area spread on 693sqm, in addition to other amenities and more than 60 parking lots.
