Brazillian Journalist Mariana Lopez Vieira said that she had not used her Kindle for a couple of weeks while she was reading a real book. Once she did come back for some virtual reading though, she found that an ant colony had started calling her Kindle home in the meanwhile.
The ants appeared to be coming out of the charging port of the Kindle.
Dismayed at how this had happened, Vieira was even more surprised to learn that the ant infestation had caused other problems too. Apparently, due to the large number of ants crawling across the screen of the Kindle, it had activated the 'one-click-buy' option on her Amazon account. So not only had ants invaded her Kindle, but they had also bought two books while she was away.
After seeing that the ants had 'bought' two books; 'Robots and the Empire' and 'The Ring of Gyges: An Ethical Fantasy', Vieira quickly logged onto her Amazon account and disabled the 'once-click-buy' option.
Since her story and pictures of her Kindle were posted on social media, #Kindle started trending on Brazilian Twitter.

E o pior: os insetos ainda compraram livros usando a conta dela no leitor digital da @amazonBR😱 pic.twitter.com/QsoEfmbEmw
This is not the first time this has happened in Brazil.
Recently, Renata Alves Frederi, another Brazilian woman took to TikTok to post about her ant-infested Kindle.
