AN Arab woman was sentenced to six months in prison for posting a ‘publicly indecent’ video on social media.
The verdict was announced by the Lower Criminal Court yesterday, which also charged her with misusing telecommunications technologies.
The defendant was sentenced to an additional 10 days in prison for violating residency laws.
The court also issued a three-year ban, barring her from entering Bahrain after completing her sentence.
Her phone, which was used to film the videos, was confiscated by the authorities.
“The woman had circulated a video of herself speaking and performing obscene gestures on social media,” the Public Prosecution said in a statement.
