Several landmarks across Bahrain, including the Manama Suq, were lit up in green as the country marked the 92nd Saudi National Day yesterday.
The Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority organised a series of events, including musical performances, puppet shows and dhow shows at various venues, which witnessed huge crowds last night.
Celebrations are being held under the slogan ‘Delighted to See You’ ... a brotherly message to the thousands of Saudi tourists who regularly travel across the causeway to visit Bahrain.
Saudi national Khaled Al Enezi, 35, told the GDN that he felt at home and the celebrations were heartwarming.
“Saudi Arabia and Bahrain are brotherly countries and this is my second home,” he said while attending a dhow show at Al Saada in Muharraq.
“I am here with my wife and two daughters Lugain, 10, and Afnan, 7, and son Turki aged 5.
“I came to Bahrain especially to celebrate Saudi National Day.”
Another Saudi national, Ali Al Roaimi, echoed similar sentiments.
“We always travel to Bahrain because it’s a beautiful country and I am here with my sister Sara, 14, and brother Abdullah, 12, along with our parents,” the 23-year-old said.
Traditional music and dance performances are being held at Bab Al Bahrain, Al Liwan Complex, Water Garden City, Bilaj Al Jazayer Beach, Marassi Beach among other venues as part of the three-day celebration which concludes today.
Meanwhile, Bahrain International Airport employees marked the day by carrying Saudi flags and presenting souvenir gifts to passengers from Saudi Arabia. A folk group performed patriotic Al Ardah songs at the airport to greet visitors and express joy over the occasion.
