AN inspection campaign was recently conducted at scrapyards and metal shops in the kingdom, resulting in the arrest of a number of expatriates living and working in the country illegally.
The joint campaign was organised by the Labour Market Regulatory Authority, in co-operation with government entities including the Interior Ministry represented by the Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs, and the Police Directorate of Capital Governorate, along with the Industry and Commerce Ministry.
The inspection involving 46 shops resulted in the arrest of 17 expatriate workers of Asian nationalities for alleged residency and working violations.
